Bournemouth Week 1 21st to 28th August 2022
Sunday 21st August
We all met up today and settled into the hotel, everyone was friendly, and we got to know each other. We ate our evening meal together in the restaurant, followed by some bingo and entertainment from the hotel’s singer. Terry danced tonight, the only one brave enough on the dancefloor!
Monday 22nd August
We started our morning off with some breakfast and a welcome meeting. Afterwards, we walked along the coast to the Aquarium Centre where we saw sharks, stingrays and lots of different kinds of fish! We went out for lunch (and ice creams!) and then walked back up the hill to our hotel. After enjoying our dinner together, we played some more bingo, listened to the artist and danced; Terry danced 18 times!
Tuesday 23rd August
After breakfast we set off for our steam train ride. On the way we took a short trip on a ferry and stopped off for our lunch; sausage rolls, milkshakes and crisps were enjoyed by all on the seafront! The train was very busy, but we managed to sit together and enjoy the journey. After our dinner we watched an Elvis entertainer, danced, played some bingo and won a quiz! What an eventful day!
Wednesday 24th August
We went for an early breakfast today before setting off to Poole, where we took a boat trip around the harbour to Wareham. We stopped off for fish and chips and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Afterwards, it was time for ice creams on the quayside. Arriving back at the hotel just in time for dinner, we then chose to enjoy another night of bingo, entertainment and dancing.
Thursday 25th August
Today we went to the cinema to see Super Pets, it was really entertaining and funny, everyone enjoyed it! Afternoon lunch was a tasty, toasted sandwich and Costa coffee. We then walked to the pretty gardens nearby and enjoyed ice creams, drinks and an opportunity to shop! We followed this up with dinner at the hotel, a fabulously talented singer and another quiz!
Friday 26th August
Today we drove down to the seafront, and Richard went on the Red Arrows very own flight simulator! We had coffee and ice cream in a beachside cafe before strolling along the seafront to have lunch in a local restaurant. We then paddled in the water fountains in the centre and managed to squeeze in some gift shopping. After dinner there was entertainment, dancing, a quiz and more bingo, Adrian won twice tonight! Each night Debbie and Julie spent time with Richard and talked through the day’s activities, Richard said he’d enjoyed everything on the holiday so far!
Saturday 27th August
After breakfast, we drove to the Heavy Horse Centre where we also saw donkeys, goats, rabbits and birds! Richard even went on the horse cart ride around the grounds! We went for a lovely lunch outside, really enjoying our sandwiches and ploughman’s lunch. After wandering around and watching all of the activities we stopped for an ‘afternoon tea’ treat of jam & clotted cream scones. We returned home to our hotel to relax before our final dinner together, then we enjoyed our last evening of entertainment and games.
Sunday 28th August
Sadly, today it was time to pack our things and make our way home. We said our goodbyes, and Adrian summed it up when he said, “I enjoyed everything, especially making new friends”! What a lovely trip to Bournemouth.
