Monday 12th October

We all arrived at the barn our home for the next few days and enjoyed a cuppa and some homemade Victoria Sponge cake while getting to know each other.  In the evening we relaxed whilst watching a movie.

Tuesday 13th October

We went on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway on a steam train today.  We boarded the train at Toddington and travelled to Cheltenham racecourse station.  We alighted to watch the change over before boarding the train again.  Travelling to Broadway for a quick change over before heading back to Toddington.  John “ It was a lovely ride”.  Patrick “The seam train ride was my favourite, sitting in the carriage together and having a laugh”.

Wednesday 14th October

Today we went on the Dean Forest Railway, this time the train had a diesel engine.  Boarding at Norchard station, travelling down the line to Park End, before returning to Lydney junction and back to Norchard.  The views of the Autumn colours in the forest and seeing a stage was great.  After we had a coffee and cake with a spot of shopping in Coleford town centre we headed off to enjoy  a game of Ten pin bowling followed by pizza and burgers.

Thursday 15th October

Today we had a self-hire canal boat on the Oxford canal.  Everyone had a go at driving the boat.  John enjoyed helping out on the locks.  John “despite the rain, we had a good day, it didn’t dampen our spirits.  Harry “It was quite a good day”.

Friday 16th October

Today we visited Gloucester Docks, we learnt about the history of the National Waterways as we looked round the Museum.  We learnt how the locks works and enjoyed lunch in the Barge restaurant.  In the evening we went out for a last night meal to the Tavern pub in Kemble.

Saturday 17th October

This morning we enjoyed breakfast and backed our bags.  We said goodbye to the new friends we had made before travelling home.

Darren “ I enjoyed all the day’s out and I would like to come again”.
