Christmas Crafts and Cooking 6th to 10th December 2021

Monday 6th December

Everyone arrived at the barn today. We settled into our rooms and unpacked, before having a welcome meeting and getting to know each other. We all enjoyed pizza for dinner, it was a really nice treat! We finished off the evening watching ‘A Christmas Carol’ whilst enjoying a lovely hot chocolate.

Tuesday 7th December

Today we spent the day in Cheltenham, where we visited the Christmas markets and bought some gifts for our friends and family. We had a delightful lunch whilst managing to dodge the rain showers! We went to see the ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ pantomime in the afternoon, and we all joined in with the clapping and some songs. We enjoyed our evening meal and drinks back at the barn, before heading to bed and getting some rest.

Wednesday 8th December

We celebrated an early Christmas today! Everyone wore their own Christmas outfits and enjoyed a delicious English breakfast to start the day. After breakfast we went bowling, it was great fun! Katherine said, “I’ve never been bowling before; my family will never believe it!”. Later, we celebrated Christmas day with lots of pulled crackers and a lovely turkey xmas dinner. We enjoyed a Christmas pudding for dessert, and then Santa came to surprise us with lots of presents!

Thursday 9th December

Today we went to Roves Farm, where we fed the goats and visited the nativity scene. We saw donkeys, alpacas and even 1-week old piglets, they were so cute! We enjoyed a wander around the farm shop, followed by lunch in the cafe. When we came home, we ate mince pies with mulled wine and hot chocolate. Our evening was filled with arts & crafts, Christmas card making and creating calendars for 2022 using our own photos!

Friday 10th December

After breakfast, we all said goodbye and began our journeys home, with Howard saying that “everything has been fantastic”. Susan thought that “the panto was great fun; I’ve enjoyed the shopping”. Katherine summed it up, saying that “I’ve had a great holiday, I can’t wait to come back”.
