Tuesday 21st December

This morning we all met up at the airport to catch our flight to Lanzarote. We were all really excited and tired by the time we arrived at our hotel. We decided that after dinner, it was best to head to our rooms and unpack, before getting a good night’s sleep so we were rested for the busy days ahead!

Wednesday 22nd December

When we got up, we were all excited for the start of our holiday. After breakfast we had our welcome meeting. We then went to our rooms to finish off unpacking after our long day yesterday. After lunch we relaxed by the pool and went for a little swim. The hotel was lovely and the weather beautiful, what a fantastic start to the holiday!

Thursday 23rd December

Today we went into town. Some of us went in by taxi, whereas others decided to take a leisurely walk and enjoy the amazing weather. We all chose our Secret Santa presents, and then sat in the sunshine having some drinks. Nazia had a pina colada! We got back to our hotel and had a dip in the pool, with Tracey (our mermaid) showing us her swimming skills! In the evening, Andrew serenaded us on the karaoke stage with his favourite song ‘Dancing Queen’.

Friday 24th December

We spent today poolside, with Leslie and Jason playing games of pool and darts, later being joined by Ian. We then all enjoyed a barbecue lunch that was provided by the hotel, it was delicious! In the evening, we dressed up for dinner. When we got to the restaurant, we were all surprised with tequila slammer shots, Anwar had one and he loved it! We finished off the night by heading outside to watch the Christmas Eve fireworks, it was a fantastic show!

Saturday 25th December

Xmas day! Feliz Navidad! We wore our Christmas clothes down to breakfast, before heading back to our rooms and doing our Secret Santa. The presents were hidden outside of our rooms and each person had to guess and find them! Later on, we were relaxing by the pool when Santa came riding on a camel! We had some great photos taken with the camel and wished Santa a Merry Christmas. We had a lovely gala dinner tonight, dancing to the band and watching the fireworks before going to bed.

Sunday 26th December

Today, half of us went off to the market. Lots of shopping was done by the ladies, they bought trousers, tops, scarves and bags! Leslie bought a clock, and Anwar decided to go for a sweatshirt. Andrew was really pleased with his new fridge magnets, there was something for everyone!

Monday 27th December

We went on an adventure today, stopping off for some beautiful photos and enjoying a nice drink by the sea. Leslie treated himself to a bag, Peter and Jason got a bum bag each and Jason also got a beach towel, they were so pleased with them! Jo and Jackolyn got their hair braided and they both looked really good, whilst Peter decided on a nice watch. Meanwhile, Nazia, Anwar and Gilly enjoyed sitting by the seaside at the beach cafe having a drink. Jo also spotted a celebrity ‘Cerys Matthaus’ which delighted her!

Tuesday 28th December

We had great fun poolside today, most of us got into the pool and we had a fantastic game of catch with a ball! We splashed around for ages having a lovely time. Later on, Leslie even joined us in the water polo game. His team won and he scored a goal, definitely deserving his certificate as ‘Man of the Match’! We played some games of bingo after dinner, then went off to bed for a well-earned rest.

Wednesday 29th December

Half of us went to the zoo today, we managed to see white tigers, crocodiles, buffaloes, ponies and donkeys. We even went to a really good parrot show, where they performed loads of tricks! Afterwards we went to watch the sea lions in action, we all found it really funny watching them perform and clap. Ian got his picture taken with a massive sea lion too, it was amazing! The other half of our group decided to head for the shops today. They all had a relaxing time, enjoying some refreshing drinks at the seaside cafe bar.

Thursday 30th December

Today we visited a volcanic mountain, we were all so excited to see it in person! We arrived at the mountain top and watched a man pour water down it, it sprayed up into the air and soaked most of us! It made us jump and laugh a lot. Andrew, Jeffrey, Jo, Jackolyn, Anwar and Naz all had a camel ride up and down a mountain. Afterwards, it was off to a vineyard on the way back and we tasted some of their wines, some of us bought bottles of wine to take back home!

Friday 31st December

It’s New Year’s Eve today, so we spent the day relaxing poolside and saving our energy for the celebrations tonight. We all dressed up and went down to the Gala reception by the pool, everything looked really stylish! This was followed by a sumptuous banquet of fish, meats, vegetables… all the delicacies you could want. We were entranced by authentic Spanish dancers; it was great entertainment! The New Year was brought in by more champagne by the poolside, where we watched the fireworks and celebrated together.

Saturday 1st January

We all agreed to have a chill day today, it was much needed! We all topped up our tans; Lee played water polo whilst Jason played some games of pool with Andrew. Naz, Sam and Tracey relaxed for a long time in the jacuzzi, and it was an early night for all.

Sunday 2nd January

Today half of us went to visit the market, where we all purchased T-Shirts for only 2 euros! Some of us also bought fridge magnets, trainers, clothes and different trinkets to remember the holiday. The rest of us walked down to the beach for some delicious coffee and more gift shopping. Les, Jason and Jeffrey went off with Tom to watch the football match in a local bar, the atmosphere was really good! Jeffrey said that he’d never done that before and that it was the best ever.

Monday 3rd January

Today some of the group went to the zoo, where we had photos taken with the sea lions and dolphins! We splashed around in the water park area and spent up a storm in the gift shop. The rest of us, who had already been to the zoo, had a chill out day by the pool. Naz was fabulous at salsa; we were all very impressed! Meanwhile Tracey was her usual spectacular self in the pool. We all had our dinner and enjoyed our last evening together.

Tuesday 4th January

We spent the morning packing our things and having some breakfast. Then, before we knew it was time to make our way home. We all agreed that we’d had a fantastic holiday together, and we can’t wait to get home and show our gifts and photos to everyone! What a great holiday with Options!
