Cleethorpes 20TH to 27th June 2021
Sunday 20th June
Meeting at the Cirencester Travel Lodge, we then drove to Leicester where Richard joined us. Leaving the rain behind in Gloucestershire, we arrived happily at sunny Cleethorpes. Next, we got to know each other and settled into our rooms. Afterwards we enjoyed a lovely 2 course meal in the restaurant of our hotel.
Monday 21st June
Today we went to Natureland Seal Sanctuary, where we saw seals, fed the goats and met some friendly meerkats. We also watched some reptiles and snakes in the reptile house, before exploring the butterfly’s home and learning all about them. After lunch, we went to visit Skegness beach and had a paddle in the sea. We finally returned to the hotel for a 2-course dinner and a music quiz!
Tuesday 22nd June
We went to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre today. We really enjoyed looking at the exhibits, and we even watched a Lancaster Bomber fire up its engines and propellors. It was really noisy whilst it was driving around the field! After lunch we went off for a swim at Cleethorpes beach. Returning to the hotel, we had a 2-course meal for dinner. Later on in the evening, we went to the pub to watch the football, it was England versus the Czech Republic. We won! We all had loads of fun!
Wednesday 23rd June
Today we took a train ride on the light railway in Cleethorpes. We got off next to the pier and had lunch in the largest fish and chips shop in the world! Before returning to the hotel, he also had a drink outside of the smallest pub in the world, what a day! Richard had a swim in the sea, whilst we all went for a walk along the sea front. After a little rest in the hotel, we went bowling, it was great fun!
Thursday 24th June
Today we went to Fantasy Island, Robin and Jez loved the rollercoasters and big rides, high above the crowds on the swinging chairs. Robin also loved the loop the loop, even going upside down on the millennium which he rode twice! He said, “it was my favourite ride!”. The rest of the group enjoyed the dodgems and the twister, with Marie Claire deciding that “I enjoyed the hot air balloon ride”. After lunch, we had time to buy gifts and souvenirs at the large market. We had loads of fun, even hooking a duck and winning some prizes!
Friday 25th June
We visited The Deep today, it’s the UK’s biggest aquarium. We managed to see sharks, tuna, swordfish, sea turtles, jellyfish and piranhas. There were also frogs, star fish and some adorable penguins! It was a great day out, and we also found time to wander around the gift shop. In the afternoon Richard went for another swim in Cleethorpes Sea, but it was too cold for Jade and Chris, so we cheered him on from the beach! We ended the night with dinner back at the hotel, followed by a music quiz.
Saturday 26th June
After a relaxing morning, we went to Emily’s Tearoom for lunch. There was a lot of lovely food, and it was the first time we had ever seen a triple chocolate scone! Marie Claire agreed that “it was delicious”. Next, we went to Mablethorpe, where Richard enjoyed a swim in the sea. The others brought gifts and souvenirs in the shops. After dinner at McDonald’s, we went to the Embassy Theatre, we all loved the Cabaret show, it was so much fun!
Sunday 27th June
After breakfast, we all said goodbye to Peter. We then went home on the minibus, and we definitely had a great holiday!
