Harry Potter experience 1st to 8th April 2022
Friday 1st April
Everyone arrived safely and settled in nicely. We then had fish & chips for our evening meal followed by ice cream. We were then going to watch the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ DVD, this is part of the Harry Potter World created by J. K. Rowling.
Saturday 2nd April
Today we were visiting Gloucester Cathedral. We found our way to The Cloisters, within the Cathedral, as some of the scenes from Harry Potter were filmed there. We had fun hiding behind the pillars just like Harry and Ron did in the Harry Potter film. We looked around the rest of the Cathedral, some of the group lit a candle. There was also a chance to dress as a bishop. We enjoyed a good lunch in the market café.
Sunday 3rd April
Today we were visiting the village of Lacock to see the various parts of the village that had been used in the making of the Harry Potter films. Lacock is a lovely village and it was a chance to have our photo taken at the famous homes from the film. In the evening we watch Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince film. It was fun shouting,” been there!” whenever we recognised a location we had visited. Whilst watching the movie at our accommodation we had hot chocolate and marshmallows with squirty cream, Yum!
Monday 4th April
We arrived in Oxford for a Harry Potter shopping experience and a tour of the City. We had a lovely lunch in the covered market. In the evening we enjoyed another cinema night and we decided to dress up in our Harry Potter clothes that we had purchased. We watched Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows part 1 this evening.
Tuesday 5th April
Today we visited Warner Brother Studios Tour for ‘The Making of Harry Potter Tour’. Quite simply it was magnificent. Cecilia said, “The best bit was the dragon in the bank, but I loved everything.” The enchanted forest was pretty scary as it had spiders! Roger loved the costumes The others also loved it and had a wonderful time and especially liked the shopping to buy souvenirs.
Wednesday 6th April
We had been quite busy this holiday so today we had a bit of a lie-in and had a relaxing morning. Later we visited The World of Crocodiles where we looked to see if we could find any Harry Potter creatures. We saw a python which reminded us of Lord Voldemort’s snake and the giant turtle which we thought resembled Lord Voldemort. In the evening we watched the last of the Harry Potter films.
Thursday 7th April
Today was a day full of tasty treats as we were visiting Cadbury World. Some of the highlights were the 4D film, the characters who were walking about, the small car tour around Beanville and signing our names in liquid chocolate. We had booked a ‘high tea’ for lunch within Cadbury World, and it was delicious. It was a lovely way to celebrate our amazing holiday together.
Friday 8th April
Time to say our goodbyes and make our way home. We had lots of memories and souvenirs to take home with us.
