Heart of England 15th to 22nd October 2021
Friday 15th October
Everyone arrived safe and sound today and settled into the barn. We all got to know each other and had pizza with chips and salad for tea, what a treat! We all watched TV together in the lounge until it was time to get some rest.
Saturday 16th October
We had a delicious, clotted cream tea today at a quaint cafe in Bourton-on-the-Water. Afterwards we went to Birdlife Park, where we saw the cute penguins up close! We also managed to see a parrot that said “Hello” every time we walked past, it was really good fun.
Sunday 17th October
Today we went to Stratford-upon-Avon, which was the birthplace of William Shakespeare! On the way there we decided to stop off for some tea and cake at a beautiful Nepalese tea house called Alain Rouveare. We went shopping in the high street afterwards and everyone enjoyed exploring the famous area.
Monday 18th October
We took a trip to Crocodile Land today. We saw loads of small and medium sized crocodiles; their teeth were so big! We also spotted some snakes and green lizards throughout the day. After lunch we were even able to watch the crocodiles being fed, we were happy to be on our side of the barrier! We had a lovely day out today; everyone laughed a lot.
Tuesday 19th October
Today we went on a trip to Tenpin, Swindon to go bowling. In between our games we had our lunch there, there were some really good scores from everyone, and we all agreed we’d had a great time. Then we decided on a spot of shopping before heading back to the barn for our dinner.
Wednesday 20th October
We went to Oxford Castle and Jail today; it was really interesting, and we all learned a lot. First, we were taken down to the dungeons where the jails were, then we had our photos taken against the mugshot wall in the jail! We visited the souvenir shop and bought some nice gifts, and then we went back to the barn for a tasty fish and chip takeaway!
Thursday 21st October
We went for a shopping extravaganza in Gloucester today. Derek bought a cute pop-up penguin, whilst Jane and Rich went for lots of sweets! Jackie decided on a fluffy bear and David got two really nice t-shirts. Anthony was especially thoughtful and got his mum a lovely Gloucester Cathedral tea towel. Later on in the evening, we had our farewell dinner at the Toby Carvery.
Friday 22nd October
Today it was time to make our way home and we all said our goodbyes. We all agreed that we’d had such a fun week, what a lovely holiday with Options!
