Sunday 30th May

Some of us met up at Cirencester before we travelled down to Portsmouth. We picked up Clare on the way and met Simon at the ferry port. The ferry was very quick, there was barely time for a coffee! Luckily our hotel wasn’t too far from the ferry, so we settled into our rooms before going out for a lovely roast dinner.

Monday 31st May

Today we went to The Needles, it was a lovely sunny day. We had a look in the shops and took some pictures. Clare Katherine and Sam walked down to the beach and went on a boat trip, whilst the rest of us watched a sweet making demonstration and a glass making tutorial.

Tuesday 1st June

Today we went to visit the Isle of Wight Zoo. We were lucky with the weather again as it was a beautiful sunny day. We saw lions, meerkats, monkeys, goats and rabbits to name a few! Clare and Katherine liked the meerkats best, whilst the tigers were hiding, and we could hardly see them! In the evening we were entertained by a singer and musician who played the keyboard. Everyone enjoyed Clare dancing along!

Wednesday 2nd June

Today we went to the dinosaur museum, it was very interesting. Simon and Jenni enjoyed pressing all of the buttons and trying to guess what was inside the box, but Clare was surprised that it was fossilized Dino Pooh! Next, we went to see a viewpoint at the top of the Island, on the way we all tried to guess what we would see. We guessed a football stadium, farm and water place but it was a Roman Villa! On our way back we stopped off for coffee and cake, loving our amazing view of the sea.

Thursday 3rd June

Today we went to the Isle of Wight steam train. First, we explored around the falconry and saw lots of owls, vultures and various other birds. We also saw some cute guinea pigs and rabbits, but soon it was time to board our steam train! We saw plenty of cows, horses and sheep. We also watched the engine go from the front to the back of the train whilst we stopped at Wooton Station.

Friday 4th June

Today we went to Ryde to look round the shops and get some gifts and souvenirs. We also did some pottery painting which we found very relaxing. In the evening we went bowling with Clare getting the first strike of the evening, but Katherine won with a high score of 119! Afterwards, everyone voted on going to McDonald’s!

Saturday 5th June

Today we visited Carisbrook Castle. Simon, Clare and Kirstine explored the walk around the top of the castle whilst the others checked out the museum, chapel and the donkeys. I t was a lovely sunny day, and we learned a lot. We collected our pottery before heading home to pack. That evening we had a lovely dinner at Benjamins, his ice cream sundaes were amazing!

Sunday 6th June

Sadly, this was the day to catch our ferry home. We all agreed it was a fab holiday! We can’t wait to come back and visit all of the friendly people on the Isle of Wight.
