Monday 28th June

Today we had a lovely day on the Condor Ferry eating some nice food and viewing some beautiful sights en route. We took some photos on deck and enjoyed the warm sunshine. We also met some delightful people who made us feel very welcome and wished us well as we went on our way. We arrived at our charming hotel and were greeted by Leena, who was waiting with a fabulous 3 course meal for us.

Tuesday 29th June

We began our day with a lovely breakfast, then decided to relax by the pool. Jo had a great swim whilst Chris enjoyed the jacuzzi. We had lunch poolside and sat in the shade, colouring and singing to a mixture of music on Miriam’s phone. We wandered to the bottom of the garden to see the budgies and parrots in the Avery. A lovely evening meal was followed by a drink in the bar, and England winning the football match against Germany 2-0!

Wednesday 30th June

After an enjoyable breakfast we went to visit the Jersey War Tunnels, it was really interesting. We began by sitting in an old army jeep, and we got our photos taken in it! It was quite dark and a little spooky at times, Chris said he liked seeing the tanks the best. It showed us all what a hard time people had during the war, as the rations that were given to people by the Red Cross were very little. We then had a light lunch at the museum cafe and chose to visit the gift shop. Then we went into town and sampled real Jersey ice-cream, it was delicious!

Thursday 1st July

Today we went to the zoo, we had a great time and managed to get a perfect view of the gorillas as they came into their enclosures to take a break from the sunshine. Miriam got some great photos of them to give to her hairdresser. Jo named a tortoise ‘George’ and fell in love with it. The meerkats were funny, and Em got in the Space Zone, we got loads of good photos! We were even allowed to hold a giant butterfly on our hands which was an amazing experience. We all thought the bats were awesome, they were seen in an organic natural environment so we could watch them really clearly.

Friday 2nd July

Today we visited Elizabeth Castle, which was built in the 15th Century. We boarded a bus to take the 8-minute trip across to the castle (which is in the sea), the bus was amphibious because it became a boat! We had a nice time looking around the castle and it gave us great views. We had lunch back at the hotel and swam in the pool for a while after. Chris, Miriam and Em had a relaxing bubble massage in the jacuzzi. In the evening there was a singer for entertainment, Jo sang a solo song and we all clapped and danced. Chris and Miriam then sang a song each, we all had a fantastic evening singing and dancing joined by other guests at the hotel!

Saturday 3rd July

Today we all went bowling. We had a great time, and Emily scored 4 strikes! Teresa scored a strike on her second bowl, whilst everyone else scored strikes which was amazing! We then explored along the seafront and enjoyed a Jersey ice-cream. We chilled poolside later in the afternoon, with some of us swimming and the others colouring. In the evening we had a great time dancing until very late to ‘Rich Altar’. We presented him with a thank you card and a bottle of wine for giving us such a lovely experience.

Sunday 4th July

Today we went for a costal island tour, we stopped at 8 beautiful places. Jo and Em went for a paddle in the sea. We sat against a huge seafront rock and ate our lunch there. Luckily those pesky seagulls didn’t manage to get any food from us! Afterwards we went into a souvenir shop and bought some Jersey fudge as presents to take home.

Monday 5th July

It was Teresa’s birthday today! We decorated the breakfast area with balloons and a banner, watching as she opened her cards and presents. She even received a box of chocolates from Chris! We got her a lovely birthday cake, and everyone sang happy birthday as she blew out her candles.
