Saturday 4th September

After arriving, we all unpacked and went into dinner, it was lovely. Afterwards we listened to a fantastic singer. We finished off our first night with some bingo, Jenny even won £15!

Sunday 5th September

We had a great day today at Caerphilly Castle. We got there after lunch, where we say the armoury and weapons that were used by the Vikings! We even had our picture taken with a Viking’s family; it was great fun. Some of us went to the very top of the castle and waved down to everyone else whilst we relaxed and had drinks and ice cream. A very enjoyable visit today! We spent the evening dancing to the entertainment and played some more bingo, there were no winners tonight though!

Monday 6th September

There was an early start today in order to visit the Welsh Mint. We saw how coins we made for lots of different countries, along with huge boxes that were filled with tons of new £1 coins. We all got to stamp out our own 50p commemorative coins, it was great fun!

Tuesday 7th September

Today we went to visit St Fagans, an open-air museum which shows Wales throughout the ages. We went into a cute church and then some beautiful houses that showed the changes through the ages in each one. Suzanne and Clare bought some sweets from the souvenir shop. We also saw a blacksmith crafting horseshoes, it was all very interesting! We had a delicious lunch, and Emma, Jenny, Susan and Suzanne all bought souvenirs.

Wednesday 8th September

We started off the day by enjoying milkshakes at a cafe by our hotel, before heading off to a mine. We went on a guided tour to see its mechanical workings. Suzanne found the exploration really interesting, and especially enjoyed it when she got to start the mine’s blast for coal. The room even shook to imitate how it would feel to experience mining years ago, it was so cool!

Thursday 9th September

Today we went on ‘Lucie’ the land train. It took us from Sandy Bay to Rest Bay. People waved at us as we drove through the town, it was amazing! We then had a very nice lunch at the local surf club. After dinner we danced and played bingo, Emma managed to win £30!

Friday 10th September

We went souvenir shopping today. We bought lots of presents with Welsh logos, like T-shirts, keyrings, bags and fridge magnets. We all had a lovely lunch and took all of our goodies back to the hotel! Later in the evening, we went to an ice cream parlour called Fablus. We all played bingo after our evening meal, but no one managed to win on our final night!

Saturday 11th September

Today it was time to pack our things and make our way home. We all said goodbye to our new friends, but we really enjoyed our holiday to Wales and can’t wait for another great trip with Options!
