Thursday 3rd December

We all arrived today; we are staying in a beautiful location in the Cotswolds. After we had settled into our rooms, we had some mince pies. Later, we enjoyed a lovely evening meal with 3 courses. After our meal we relaxed while watching a film.

Friday 4th December

Today we all had a cooked breakfast and then drove to Cirencester for a look around and to buy our ‘secret Santa’ presents. Cirencester is a picturesque market town not far from our accommodation. We came back home for our lunch and got ready for our visit later in the afternoon to The Cotswold Farm Park. We left it until 4pm when it was starting to get dark as we were going on The Enchanted Light Train at the Park. It was great to see all the lights twinkling. Later, in the evening we wrapped up the presents. We also had a demonstration about ‘How to decorate a Christmas chocolate log with butter icing’. The group offered suggestions on how it should be decorated.

Saturday 5th December

We made today ‘our’ Christmas day on the holiday. In the morning we visited The Cotswold Reindeer Herd, not far from us at Ampney Crucis. It was lovely being so close to the reindeer and being able to feed them and have our picture taken with them. In the afternoon we played bingo and had a quiz which was for prizes. We all enjoyed a super Christmas dinner with chocolate log cake and crackers. In the evening, the group decided they wanted to watch a film (we were all pretty full, from our Christmas meal).

Sunday 6th December

We treated today as ‘our’ Boxing day. Some of us went to the church with Jane. The rest of the group stayed with Jade and made Christmas cards. Later in the afternoon we all visited the local Barn Theatre in Cirencester to see the production of Peter Pan. In view of the current situation, we all had our masks on throughout the performance and kept to all the guidelines. Afterwards, back at out accommodation, we decorated our ginger biscuits. Then we made a start on our packing ready for tomorrow.

Monday 7th December

We had our last breakfast together and said our goodbyes, we were sad the holiday had ended.
