Friday 6th May

Once we had arrived at the Barn in the beautiful Cotswolds, we set out to explore our new home for the week, choosing our bedrooms and settling in nicely. While dinner was being prepared, we got to know our new friends over a relaxing drink and some TV. After sitting down to dinner together we chilled out and had a go at pool and table football.

Saturday 7th May

We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast then headed off to the Cotswold Water Park where we had a super picnic. We had a paddle at the water’s edge before taking a walk along the beach, enjoying the beautiful setting. We grabbed an ice-cream before heading home for dinner. We watched a dance film later and were even inspired to get up and try some moves for ourselves!

Sunday 8th May

Today we visited the National Film and Sci-Fi Museum in Milton Keynes – what a brilliant place! They display loads of items – costumes, masks and props – from world-famous films and TV shows, like ‘Doctor Who’, ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’. We posed for photos and had a wonderful morning. We had our lunch and spent a relaxing afternoon before enjoying a roast dinner together.

Monday 9th May

We arrived at Cadbury World this morning in time to watch the 4D film complete with moving seats and characters that came out to meet the audience. Next stop was the café for an afternoon tea which included lots of gorgeous chocolate cakes. We then took a tour of Cadbury World itself and it was fun to see how the chocolate treats are made. We took some pictures to remember the day before visiting the all-important shop to choose presents for our friends and families. We still had plenty of room for dinner followed by a relaxing evening together.

Tuesday 10th May

We took it easy this morning and especially enjoyed our cooked breakfast. We headed into the pretty town of Cirencester to do some shopping and wrote out postcards for those at home. We found a café which did delicious hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows on top. We eventually returned to the Barn for a relaxing afternoon before dinner and bowling this evening.

Wednesday 11th May

Leicester’s award-winning National Space Centre was our destination today. Wow! We took a look at spacesuits, walked through the Columbus module and visited the planetarium. We saw a huge model of the Earth and the massive rocket tower. It was an amazing day out, including lunch and a souvenir hunt in the shop.  

Thursday 12th May

We enjoyed some relaxation time in the Barn this morning before heading off to the beautiful chocolate-box village of Bibury. Some parts of the village make you feel you’ve stepped back in time! This includes the famous Arlington Row, dating back to the 1300’s – we posed for photos there as well as taking a walk by the river where the ducks and swans were in residence. We visited a shop for gifts and mementos before sitting down together for a drink and some cake. We returned home to have a rest and enjoy our final dinner together before getting packed and ready to leave.

Friday 13th May

After breakfast, we all said goodbye for now to our new friends and began our journeys home with loads to tell the people there. The Cotswolds proved to be really beautiful and the adventures we had together were brilliant.
