Monday 12th July

All of the holiday makers arrived at The Barn in the late afternoon and spent a quiet evening relaxing and getting to know each other. Big day tomorrow!

Tuesday 13th July

Everyone set off to visit the STEAM Museum in Swindon today after a pleasant lunch at the barn. It was really interesting to learn about all of the different trains, we got some great photos!

Wednesday 14th July

It was a sunny and warm day today, it even hit 24 degrees! To escape the afternoon heat, everyone set off for a trip to Aerospace Bristol. We were all made welcome by the friendly and helpful staff, who explained how the various aircraft engines and planes worked. It was amazing! We split up for lunch, with some of us eating at the cafe whilst others headed outside to have their sandwiches in the sun. Afterwards we all visited the second hanger that housed the Concorde! Finally, we returned to the barn for some dinner and an evening of bingo.

Thursday 15th July

The weather was warm again today as we made our way to the Swindon and Cricklade railway. Two of the holiday makers took part in the ‘Drive a Train Experience’, it looked like so much fun! Barry was nervous but cheered them on! After, we all had some lunch. On our way home we stopped off at the beautiful town of Lechlade to have some drinks on the bank of the river Thames. We finished off the evening with a roast dinner back at the barn, and everyone relaxed after a busy day.

Friday 16th July

After breakfast we all went off to Bourton-on-the-Water to enjoy another lovely summer’s day. After parking the minibus, the three men went off to explore the Motor Museum. We had a good look round the exhibits, seeing toys, vintage cars and cool motorbikes! We then found a tearoom for some drinks, followed by a nice shady place so we could have our sandwiches. We walked along the water and enjoyed our ice cream afterwards, before meeting up with Jade and her party back at the minibus. In the evening we went to the Catherine Wheel Pub for a lovely dinner.

Saturday 17th July

Today we went to Gloucester Quays, it was a very hot and sunny day. We visited the Soldiers of Gloucester Museum and had a good look round, everyone bought something at the gift shop. We managed to find a shady place nearby to eat our lunch. Jade and her party were close by, and it was so warm we decided to come back to the barn. After dinner we had a great time with our own karaoke evening.

Sunday 18th July

Everyone was a little tired this morning, so we enjoyed a well-earned lie in and a relaxing late breakfast at the barn. Afterwards, we headed to the Cotswold Water Park to cool off, it was 30 degrees! We found a lovely cafe to eat some ice cream and cakes. When we returned to the barn everyone got ready for the big BBQ, there was sausages, burgers, vegetables, chicken and more! Everyone relaxed after eating, and Gordon even went for a stroll!

Monday 19th July

It was finally time for everyone to head home today. We all packed our things and said goodbye to our new friends, what a great holiday!
