Torquay and Torquay over 55’s 28th June to 5th July 2021
Monday 28th June
We met at the Cirencester Travelodge and began our journey to the hotel in Torquay. On arrival, we had a lovely 3 course dinner, followed by watching the evening entertainment, which was a very funny comedian, we all laughed a lot!
Tuesday 29th June
Gill and John went with Jade to visit Bygone’s. It was really interesting, almost like walking through Victorian times. We enjoyed lunch at a lovely cafe and went shopping for bargains in the charity shop. The rest of the group went out for lunch and then visited the Babacombe model village, it was very big! After a lovely dinner in the hotel restaurant, Jon, Gill and Jade went for an evening walk down to the harbour, it was a great evening. Everyone else enjoyed singing and dancing to the singers, it was fabulous fun!
Wednesday 30th June
Today we went on the Land Train down to the harbour. We saw all of the boats, and even had time for some shopping! Next, we enjoyed some fish and chips for lunch. John, Gill and David chose to o for an evening stroll with Jade to the harbour. The rest of the group enjoyed the evening entertainment.
Thursday 1st July
Everyone went to Paddington Zoo today; we saw all of the animals! The orangutans and spider monkeys were very entertaining, and we watched the alligators in the swamp! In the evening, we had dinner and enjoyed the entertainment, which was an enjoyable cabaret show.
Friday 2nd July
Gill and John went to Kents Cavern for a tour around the caves today. They enjoyed the woodland trail, a mammoth’s tooth and stalagmites it was really interesting! The rest of the group enjoyed going on the Babbacombe cliff railway down to Oddicombe beach. There we had a lovely lunch whilst watching people paddle boarding, kayaking and use the jet skis. The views were stunning from the clifftops! In the evening after dinner, we enjoyed the cabaret singer in the starlight bar.
Saturday 3rd July
Today, Gill and John went to Babbacombe and chose to walk down to the beach. They enjoyed their lunch as well as a lovely walk. The rest of the group visited the delightful village of Cockington with its gorgeous, thatched roofs. We even enjoyed a delightful cream tea in the garden. After walking around the craft village, we had a lovely lunch next to the cricket ground. After dinner, we had a few drinks whilst watching the Euros football match in the bar.
Sunday 4th July
Today, John and Gill visited Cockington and enjoyed walking around the beautiful village, exploring all of the lovely shops. The got a little wet, but it didn’t spoil their day. The rest of the group enjoyed a day of games and fun, including pool, air hockey and ten-pin bowling! Dinner in the hotel was followed by our last night of evening entertainment.
Monday 5th July
Today was sadly our last day of the holiday. We gathered our things and said goodbye to our friends. We all agreed that we’d had a fabulous trip to Torquay!
