Sunday 9th August

The holiday group were all excited to see our first view of The Blackpool Tower as we travelled along the sea front. Once we arrived at our hotel we settled into our rooms and headed off for our evening meal, a 3 - course dinner at the hotel followed by drinks in the bar.

Monday 10th August

We decided to go for a stroll along the promenade, taking in the sea air and enjoying the views. After a while we arrived at The North Pier where we had lunch and then sat and listened to the live music performance, at the end of the pier. We had been lucky with the weather, but it began to rain so we all took a tram back to the hotel.

Tuesday 11th August

Today we visited The Pleasure Beach. Most of the group decided they did not want to ride on the more challenging rides opting instead to go on the various stalls. However, we did try a ride or two and one of the group did go on The Big Dipper! Jenny won a lovely soft toy on the ‘hook a duck stall’.

Wednesday 12th August

It was a beautiful hot sunny day and we travelled to Morecombe. It is a lovely traditional seaside town and less busy than Blackpool. We all had our picture taken by the iconic statue of the town’s famous comedian Eric Morecombe (of “Morecombe and Wise” the television show).

Thursday 13th August

We visited the famous “Madam Tussauds Wax Museum” in Blackpool. We travelled there by tram. It was fascinating to see all the characters ranging from TV and film stars to Royalty looking very life like. There was a chance to take photographs with the famous figures ranging from ‘Ant and Dec’ to Thor from the Marvel film, there were over 80 wax figures of famous people. We even got to stop at The Rovers Return with a model of Bet Lynch from the television program Coronation Street. It was a very enjoyable day.

Friday 14th August

Thankfully, it was a little cooler today and we rested on the beach. We used our umbrellas and plenty of sun cream lotion to protect ourselves from the sun. It was nice to take the time to relax and soak up all the atmosphere of the seaside and enjoy the sea breeze which helped to keep us cooler.

Saturday 15th August

Today was to be a shopping day. There were lots of places to visit to choose and buy our gifts and souvenirs including sticks of rock! We also went for a Horse and Carriage ride along the sea front in a beautiful Cinderella style carriage. Then we fitted in a ride on the North Pier and took holiday photos. It was a lovely sunny day and we had been very lucky with the weather again.

Sunday 16th August

Our last day and time to check out of the hotel, in the morning and say all our goodbyes to Blackpool and the holiday group.
