Lincolnshire Wolds 1st to 8th October 2022

Saturday 1st October

Today, after a long drive to the Lincolnshire Wolds, we arrived at our luxury lodges with hot tubs! After unpacking, we had a welcome meeting and got to know everyone. We followed this up by enjoying a home cooked dinner at our lodge, before getting a good night’s sleep.

Sunday 2nd October

Today, we went to Cleethorpes to visit the Jungle Zoo. They had such a wide variety of animals from all around the world! The tortoise was wandering around for people to touch its shell. Our favourite animals were the black pot-bellied pigs (we stroked them) and the pygmy goats. We rode the land train for the 4-mile return trip along the Humber coastline and enjoyed a Sunday carvery at The Trawlerman, a pub nearby. The food was tasty, and it had a really nice atmosphere, a great way to round off the day.

Monday 3rd October

We visited the Woodside Wildlife Park today, where we learned that they had a variety of rare and endangered species of animals and plants from all around the world. Many of the species are part of an International Breeding Program and some are the only ones of their kind in Lincolnshire. We saw lots of animals, otters, birds of prey, wolves, tigers, pandas, and penguins. We watched the penguins being fed and the tiger, Julia, was fed her steak lunch! She was rescued from a circus. The tiger was very beautiful, and we managed to get really close! We watched the reptile talk on a python and saw the white wolves being fed, we had a really fun day learning all about the different animals!

Tuesday 4th October

Today, we travelled across the Humber Bridge to Hull. The Humber bridge is the longest single span suspension bridge within the UK, at 2.22km. We visited the Deep, which is a huge aquarium with over 3000 creatures, including sharks and sawfish. It was very educational along with being a fun visit. We saw great big tanks with lots of marine life.

Wednesday 5th October

Daniel, Anthony, and Stephen chose to walk with alpacas in a ‘Alpaca experience’ at the “Big Sky Alpacas” in Alford, Lincolnshire. They were able to get really close to the alpacas and hold them while they enjoyed a gentle 3-hour stroll around the picturesque site. Peter and Nigel along with Jade visited a Garden Centre. They enjoyed shopping in the gift shop along with a welcome stop for a cake and a drink, what a lovely treat!

Thursday 6th October

Today we had a leisurely morning with time to enjoy the hot tubs at our lodge. Then after lunch we went to the ‘Kinema in the Woods’ this is a historic cinema in the village of Woodhall Spa, and it dates from 1922. While we were there, we watched the movie Fisherman’s Friends 2, called One and All. We all liked the movie and had a relaxing day chilling in our hot tubs.

Friday 7th October

Today, we visited the Mablethorpe Seal and Wildlife Sanctuary. Only a few seals were there, which was a good sign that most were healthy at sea. There were lots of aviaries and other animals to see. We enjoyed our picnic lunch and shopping in the gift shop. In the afternoon, we had time to relax in the lodges, before going out for our dinner at the local Brackenburgh pub, the food was delicious!

Saturday 8th October

Our holiday had sadly come to an end today. We gathered our things and began to make our way home, but everyone said what a great holiday they had.
