Lanzarote Young and Fun 9th to 16th April 2022

Saturday 9th April

Today we began our journey to Lanzarote four our getaway to the sun, we were all really excited! We arrived at the hotel and settled in to unpack, then we started to get to know each other. We had our dinner and relaxed before heading to bed for a good nights’ sleep, bring on tomorrow!

Sunday 10th April

After breakfast we took a leisurely stroll down to the sea and along the Playa Blanca coastline. We had a look around the shops and explored the area. At lunchtime we stopped at a café specialising in gluten free food and had the most delicious salads. After lunch we walked back along the sea front to our hotel. We then spent a leisurely afternoon reading, doing our word puzzles and of course soaking up the sun. Later we had dinner and walked back along the sea front to a bar for a cocktail. Lots of walking today! 10000 steps and more to keep us fit for those ice creams we plan to have!

Monday 11th April

Beach day today, it was 21°! After breakfast we took our towels, suncream, bottles of water and books off to Playa Flamingo Beach, just a short walk from our hotel. We soaked up the sun all day with the occasional dip in the sea. Lunch was at the Flamingo Beach restaurant. Another great place for gluten free bites. After more sunbathing we stopped for a healthy, fruity smoothie to cool us down. We then made our way back to the hotel just in time to shower and change for dinner. We spent the evening at the hotel enjoying the entertainment which tonight was a Spanish singer.

Tuesday 12th April

We started the day with the short walk to the beach and stayed for a couple of hours until it was time to get a taxi to collect our other holiday maker. We got to the airport just as Emily left arrivals, what great timing! We taxied back to the hotel and after Emily quickly unpacked, we walked back to the beach for a late lunch and more sunbathing. Mermaid Emily got straight in the sea with her mask and snorkel splashing around amongst the waves. Ice cream kept us going until dinner. After which we enjoyed bingo and quiz night where unfortunately we didn’t win but it’s the taking part that counts!

Wednesday 13th April

After a refreshing night’s sleep, we got ready early to go to Playa Blanca market. For someone who doesn’t shop Amelia bought the most: a pair of shorts, a present for her mum, a bikini and a beautiful necklace. Emily bought presents too. When we got back as it was raining, but both the holiday makers got in the pool for a swim! The evening entertainment was a saxophonist, they were really talented, and we all had a lovely time.

Thursday 14th April

Today we had an earlier breakfast and set off for the Timafara National Park. Lucky we were on a coach trip as we were able to pass right by the queues of cars that had been waiting for hours to get to the volcano! There were three demonstrations. First, we held out our hands and some of the volcanic gravel was dropped in them. It was hot! Emily and Amelia dropped theirs immediately! Next, we were shown how just by digging a small hole dead twigs caught fire in seconds. A man in our groups’ hat blew off in the strong wind and nearly got singed! The last demonstration was cold water being boiled almost instantly underground. Cup of tea anyone? It was really interesting to tour the volcano and see the desolate landscape and ride the camels. Later we went back to the beach, before having dinner and enjoying the singer. We all sang at the top of our voices, what a day!

Friday 15th April

Aqualava Water Park for our last day today! Both Amelia and Emily said this was one of their favourite parts of the holiday and only 10 minutes’ walk from our hotel! We went on the slides and bobbed around on the waterway in the glorious sunshine. We then had a tasty lunch and swam some more. After packing later, we clapped and sang along to the Soul Man entertainer. We went to bed happy and exhausted for our long trip home tomorrow.

Saturday 16th April

Today it was time to head home. We gathered all of our things and waved goodbye to the beautiful scenery. We all agreed that we’d had a fabulous holiday together, and we can’t wait to go again!
