Sunday 23rd August

Once everyone had arrived at the hotel and met up, we settled into our rooms and familiarised ourselves with what would be our home for the holiday.

Monday 24th August

As it was our first full day we went for an exploration of Skegness. There were lots of shops, plenty of arcades and dozens of restaurants to keep us occupied. We really liked the beach and we had been very lucky with the weather for the start of our holiday. We also enjoyed a coffee and cake in the open air. We ate our evening meal at a very busy Wetherspoon’s pub tonight.

Tuesday 25th August

We were not quite so lucky with the weather today so, we decided to travel to the city of Lincoln. It is known for the medieval Cathedral which we visited along with its Castle. The shops and cafes are small and interesting with cobbled streets and looking very pretty. The Cathedral was magnificent, we enjoyed looking around. Tonight, we ate in a Carvery pub and there was also had a chance to shop in Skegness.

Wednesday 26th August

By popular demand we all went bowling today. We had a good game with Peter winning and Jenni came a close second! We had lunch while we were at the bowling centre. Afterwards we drove to R.A.F. Coningsby in the hope we would see something of ‘The Battle of Britain’ flight. Later in the evening we visited The Jolly Fisherman pub where we ate our evening meal.

Thursday 27th August

Today we went to the fair where there was a chance to take a ride on the dodgems and the ghost train. Then we played crazy golf although there was a bit of cheating going on and we should have called it ‘bonkers golf’. However, a good time was had by all regardless of the rights and wrongs of the game (ha ha). After lunch out we then went to Sutton on Sea, a village with award winning sandy beaches. At Sutton we enjoyed some doughnuts and admired the Esplanade. Our evening meal was at Hussey’s fish and chip restaurant.

Friday 28th August

It was unfortunately raining today however we were due to go and visit The Aquarium today so that worked out fairly well. It was interesting seeing and learning about the fish in their own environment. We had a tour of the shops although as it was still raining, so we decided to return to the hotel early. This meant there was a bit of a chance to relax and unwind before our evening meal.

Saturday 29th August

Today we visited the Nature land Seal Sanctuary in Skegness. It is a seal rescue and animal attraction, with a reptile house and a floral palace for butterflies. Then we went to the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park and saw all the parrots the zoo boasts it has more than 100 species of parrot! We also enjoyed seeing the tigers, the white lions and many more animals. Afterwards there was a chance to do some last minute shopping for gifts and souvenirs to take home.

Sunday 30th August

The end of our fun filled holiday and time to say goodbye and make our way back home.
