Friday 6th May

Once we had arrived at the Barn in the beautiful Cotswolds, we set out to explore our new home for the week, choosing our bedrooms and settling in nicely. While dinner was being prepared, we got to know our new friends over a relaxing drink and some TV. After sitting down to dinner together we chilled out and had a go at pool and table football.

Saturday 7th May

We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast then headed off to the Cotswold Water Park where we had a super picnic. It was a beautiful sunny day. We had a paddle at the water’s edge before taking a walk along the beach, enjoying the beautiful setting. We enjoyed an ice-cream while watching the boats, pedalo and wildlife on the water before heading home for dinner. We watched a dance film later and were even inspired to get up and try some moves for ourselves!

Sunday 8th May

Today we visited The Cotswold Farm Park. There were lots of wild breeds to see here and we bought some food for the goats and sheep. We enjoyed having a picnic in the open air. After lunch, we all had the chance to feed the lambs by bottle. There were also lots of rabbits and guinea pigs to see. There was a chance for a spot of retail therapy at the souvenir shop. In the evening, we enjoyed a home cooked roast dinner and then relaxed watching the TV.

Monday 9th May

Most of the group visited Cadbury World and enjoyed the 4D cinema and ride and seeing how the chocolate bars are made. We also booked a wonderful afternoon tea at Cadbury World and then had a look around the largest chocolate shop. Katherine wanted to catch up on her sleep and had a relaxing morning. Later she visited Westonbirt Arboretum where she had lunch with Jade and Neil. The best part was the tree top walkway and then a chance to shop for gifts.

Tuesday 10th May

We took it easy this morning and especially enjoyed our cooked breakfast. We headed into the pretty town of Cirencester to do some shopping and wrote out postcards for those at home. We found a café which did delicious hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows on top along with milkshakes. We eventually returned to the Barn for a relaxing afternoon to do puzzles or watch TV before dinner and Ten Pin Bowling this evening. We had burgers and pizza at the bowling alley. Everyone had such a great time at the bowling, and we all had a good sing along on the way back home.

Wednesday 11th May

Today we visited the Cotswold village of Bourton on the water. It is well known for its pretty cottages and the chalk river running through the centre. We went to Birdland where we saw many birds such as flamingos, owls, and parrots. It was very interesting to hear the keeper tell us all about the penguins and to watch them being fed. After looking around the gift shops we returned to our home while on holiday to relax for a little while. In the evening, we all went out for dinner to The Catherine Wheel Pub. The food was lovely, and we celebrated Katherine’s birthday which she was celebrating soon. We all sang Happy Birthday!

Thursday 12th May

There was a chance to have a relaxing morning as everyone was feeling tired from all the activities of the week. After lunch we travelled a short way to Bibury and the famous Arlington Row of cottages, it is very picturesque. There is a trout farm there and we stopped at the café for cakes and drinks. We also had a look around the gift shop before heading back to make a start on our packing.

Friday 13th May

After our last breakfast together, everyone said goodbye and set off for their journey back home. Everyone agreed it had been a wonderful holiday.
