Welsh Seaside 1st to 8th August 2022

Monday 1st August

We all met up today and began our journey to the Welsh Seaside. Everyone was really excited for the holiday to begin, and we got to know each other on route. We settled into our accommodation and enjoyed our first meal as a group, then it was off to bed, tomorrow couldn’t get here soon enough!

Tuesday 2nd August

We decided to go to Beaumaris today and have fish and chips for lunch and a tour around the castle. The castle was very accessible for our group. In the evening we enjoyed playing Bingo. Apart from the weather it had been a great start to the holiday.

Wednesday 3rd August

We had quite an eventful day today. We were trying to visit the Great Orme, a Victorian tramway in Llandudno. As the queue was so long, we decided to go for a wander along the pier instead. We had burgers for lunch and then in the afternoon we found the shuttle bus and took it all the way to The Great Orme. The weather was brilliantly sunny and very windy. Everyone was enjoying the sun today.

Thursday 4th August

Today we took a long trip out to Llangollen. The weather was beautiful, and we enjoyed the views of the Snowdon Range. We took an old-fashioned diesel train down the Llangollen valley, passing by a river on our way. There was an interesting shop at the station where we stopped and we enjoyed looking around, there was something for everyone. On the way home we went up The Horseshoe Pass and looked across to the sea.

Friday 5th August

It was another long trip out to the beautiful village of Portmeirion. The village was built in the style of an Italian village and is now a tourist attraction. The weather was exceptional again today. Whilst in the village we had lunch. Afterwards we took the bus which goes up to the foothills of Snowdon. We passed through Beddgelert and Betws-y-Coed on our bus trip. In the evening for the entertainment there was bingo and a chance to dance along to the music.

Saturday 6th August

Today we went to Bodnant Garden a National Trust property near Tal-y-Cafn. It was very beautiful, and we looked around and smelt the roses and stopped for a coffee. Later we went to the Conway Water Gardens and The Dutch Pancake House, while here we saw some ducks and fish. We then went on to Adventure Parc Snowdonia, where we ate a delicious lunch and watched the surfers practise on the man-made surfing lagoon. It is set in beautiful surroundings.

Sunday 7th August

After our trips out and previous days of adventure the group decided to go shopping today. It was a good chance to have a stroll around and look for gifts and souvenirs to take home. It was also nice to relax a little more today after all our activities during the holiday.

Monday 8th August

The last day and time to go home. We said our goodbyes, gathered our belongings together and headed for home after a lovely holiday full of new memories.
